Waiting for 1Q84 and The Night Circus

There are two novels coming out this fall that I am so excited to get my hands on and read!

I have been eagerly waiting to read 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, ever since my best friend in Korea saw someone reading a novel of his that she did not recognize (as well are both Murakami fans).  I’ve waited a whole year and now the time is almost here.  His new novel comes out on October 25, 2011 and it sounds very promising.  It is about a young woman who follows the suggestions of a taxi driver and starts to notice all the discrepancies in the world around her.  She claims the year to be 1Q84, with the letter “Q” pronounced like the Japanese number nine, kyu.  There is obviously some connection between this novel and 1984 by George Orwell.  Just from that alone, how could you not want to read it? Murakami is an excellent author and for those of you who have not read any of his novels, I strongly urge you to do so quickly before his new one comes out!

The next one has received a lot of hype recently.  Some are saying it’s the next Harry Potter.  I’m not sure about that, but regardless, I am excited to read Erin Morgenstern’s debut novel, The Night Circus. I have read a lot of great debuts this year, but I have a feeling this one will be one of my favorites. The Night Circus, as clearly stated by the title, is about a circus that only opens at night.  This circus is the background to the main attraction, the battle between Celia and Marco, two young magicians who fall in love but must continue to fight until there is only one of them left standing.  This summary sounds very familiar to many books out there and to a lot of books I have already read as well, but I can’t help it!  This novel comes out on September 13, 2011 and I have every intention on finishing it within a couple of days and posting a review!
